Black & Gold Geometric March Bullet Journal Plan-with-Me

This month’s theme is black and gold geometric and was inspired by Emma’s title page. I have always loved very geometric modern shape designs and was planning on using it at some point this year. Since I did not have any ideas for March, I decided now was the time! Read more about my layouts below.

February Updates

Before we get into my March set-up, I have added some layouts to February since writing my February plan-with-me. As you can see, there are 3 layouts that are new. These are a measurement tracker, exercise plan or schedule, and a meal tracker. Halfway through February I joined a group for exercise and meal planning and wanted to test out tracking my progress in these areas. I only used the meal tracker for a week and fell off near the end. I stopped tracking this in my planner. The measurements and exercises have been useful and I will continue to use these.

My March Set-up

My setup this month is not unlike my previous set-ups. I kept the title page different but remained with the minimal gold font of my 2019 theme. Then I move directly into my weekly spreads. These involve 7 columns, one for each day of the week. There is a main header identifying the month, then a week number on the right page. Each column has its own header identifying the date and day of the week.

My March Process & Theme

This month’s process was a little more messed up and chaotic than normal. I knew I wanted the theme to be geometric so I rolled with that. Once I got to the second week I realized that the Sakura Pentouch Paint Markers bleed quite a bit so I went back to week 1 and began painting the inside of the boxes white.

Immediately I realized that I did not want to paint over the dots inside of the daily boxes. I continued to paint everywhere else, including the title page, and re-drawing all the boxes, circles, and other shapes. Once I figured out how I wanted it, I finished the remainder of the weeks that way.

Pink Floral March 2017 Bullet Journal Plan With Me

I don’t know about you, but I am pumped for spring! My March layout was inspired by the blooming flowers of spring. This month’s bullet journal theme is pink flowers! This post may contain affiliate links

Theme | Pink Flowers

As I mentioned, this month’s theme is pink flowers, as inspired by spring. Initially, the idea was to theme it with trees and other plants, but I ended up focusing more on the pink of beautiful spring flowers. I lost the pink theme in the first few weeks but picked it back up in week three.

For the pink, I used a Mildliner, and a metallic brush pen. For the black lines I used a Staedtler fineliner and for the bold black lettering, I used the black Tombow.

Layouts

This month I kept my monthly design the same as January and February. I put a calendar on the lefthand page and put a running to-do list and goals sections on the righthand page. One change I made was to use pink cursive to title the to-do and goals sections.

The weekly pages have received a 100% complete makeover! Instead of sectioning the pages into four squares, broke them into columns. This layout was inspired by a layout that requested by a customer over on my shop, you can see that layout over on my Instagram in the archived story titled “Ellen’s Notebook.”

For the first two weeks, I explored the titling for each day of the week. Week one utilized gold cursive underneath bold black letters. Week two still featured bold black letters; however, the gold was now small numbers. For the following weeks, the bold letters are pink, and the dates are in little black numbers.

Each week of my March bullet journal also features a new washi tape boarding the right side (except week one, which has the washi tape on the left). Week one is stamp-theme washi tape, week two washi tape features world famous monuments, and week three’s washi tape is purple flowers. For week four the washi tape looks like a strip of an ancient world map, and I end the month strong with some geometric black and white tape.

March Bullet Journal Page Layouts

I decided to splurge for March and got myself a new notebook for my bullet journal! I was so inspired by the research I did for my Simple Bullet Journal Page Ideas post that I had to re-do my current design. For this journal, I also decided to invest in some new pens, and I am in love with them! This article contains Amazon Affiliate links.

First Pages and Lists

For this journal, I decided to redo my key page and title it “legend”. In order to revamp, I did a ton of research and found some additional icons that I thought would be valuable to me. On top of these new icons, I added some color coding and a new tab system. I loved my washi tape system but I love my new one even more.

Next, I added an index. Last time I made the mistake of writing too big and not leaving myself enough space. This time I allotted 3 pages, break the pages in half and am writing much smaller. Additionally, I am color-coding to easy understanding.

Next, I wanted to incorporate a self-care page because I really need to take better care of myself. I placed it next to my “books I read” page. The self-care page has a sunflower on it. For the petals of this sunflower, I decided to play with shading with my new pens. The outcome is beautiful, I’m super proud of it!

The next page I’m super excited for. It’s a blog and social media scheduling key. A lot of research went into not only how to set up the key, but the title. I wish I saved the link to the title that inspired mine.

To the right of the blog schedule is my year at a glance. This is a super simple page that is meant to just overview 2017.

March Pages

March-specific pages, monthly and weekly layouts.

March Monthly

Here is where March starts! This page not only includes an overview of the month, but it also includes more features than my previous monthly pages. This month I’ve included a much, much smaller title. Having a smaller title allowed for an inspirational quote, color key, and a small overview of April. There is not a lot of plans on my calendar yet, but I’m hoping to add some!

March Weekly

My weekly layout could use some work. I’m working on perfecting them. They include events & appointments, due dates, to-do & miscellaneous, and blog columns. I originally was using the to-do column for ALL to-dos but it was way too full.

So, I decided to migrate blog to-dos over to the blog column. The blog column was originally used for blog due dates. I also found that the due dates column was primarily useless to me right now.  Next month I will remove the due dates column.

Pages I Realized I Needed Afterwards

After making my new March set up, it occurred to me that I had completely forgotten any tracking system and a place for my weekly shopping list. For March, I added a page dedicated to be March’s shopping list. For April, I will incorporate tracking and shopping into my weekly spread.
