It is always super difficult to come up with a theme. Here is a list of over 100 bullet journal theme ideas.

Table of Contents

It is always super challenging to come up with a theme. Sometimes you want something more general, but you usually want it to match the period it covers.

I do a different theme each month. I also keep some aspects common throughout the whole notebook. This year, my common thread is the lettering I use.

Additionally, I like to stick to colors or patterns for my themes. However, I will occasionally pull in something more artistic, like a galaxy theme. Others might choose a more artistic theme for each month. These themes might include a favorite show, game, animal, etc.

Regardless of the countless options, sometimes it can be difficult to become inspired. So, here is a list of over 100 bullet journal theme ideas to inspire your planner.

01 | January

January is the first month of the year. Where I am from, it is usually the worst month for winter weather with snow and cold everywhere. So, I generally use a lighter or brighter blue as my bujo theme for January

Further, below are some other great January bullet journal theme ideas.

02 | February

February is the month of love. So, it seems that everything in February is related to love and valentine’s day.

I am not a huge celebrator of the holiday. Thus, my February bullet journal theme focuses on something else, possibly something feminine or delicate in nature. For example, this year, my February theme was gold

March’s primary holiday is St. Patty’s Day. So, it seems that everything turns green during March; green seems to be in everyone’s bullet journal.

As you might have picked up, generally, I’m not particularly eager to use holiday themes. Instead, for my March layout, I decided to do something weird. Further, instead of green, I used white and black to keep a clean geometric type layout.

Here are some very fun March theme ideas.

April is essentially the first month of spring, and it is when Easter occurs in the United States. Because of this, some of the most common April themes revolve around spring and Easter.

However, my own April layout’s theme is pink! To me, pink represents spring as many flowers are shades of red and pink (as are many Easter concepts).

In addition to those theme ideas, here are a ton more!!

  • Easter
  • Ducklings

05 | May

May is one of those months that doesn’t have much going on.

Mother’s day is in May, but that doesn’t provide a good theme. However, May is spring season, so you can continue to roll with spring-related themes such as rain and flowers.

Further, I decided to go off books and do an outer space-themed layout for May. But here are some other great ideas.

06 | June

Around here, June is when summer starts to kick into gear.

In June, the weather is gorgeous, and the sun is shining. Because of this, the prospect of summer drives a lot of the June themes I list below.

Additionally, a lot of spring layouts can still work for June.

07 | July

In July, it is full-blown summertime! You can use sunny summer themes. Additionally, if you are in the United States, you can use your theme to celebrate Independence day!

However, you probably know that I like to stay away from the holidays for my themes. Regardless, here are some July theme ideas!
