Red September Bullet Journal | I Made A Big Mistake

Red September Bullet Journal | I Made A Big Mistake

For my September bullet journal spread I, like normal, minimal. However, I made some accidental changes that I have ended up loving! Keep reading to learn more about the mistake that turned into the most efficient bullet journal spread I've had yet! This post may contain affiliate links.

September Bullet Journal Theme | Red

This month is a crazy month for me, so naturally, I kept my September layouts fairly minimal. Despite keeping my spread minimal, I made some major changes for me. But before we get to those changes let’s talk theme. The theme for this month is red. I did not go with any other theme or thread, just red from the same TombowDual Brush Pen.

I used the red in the title page and the days of the week as well as new category tags. In addition to the red ink, I also added different washi tape to each weekly page. This washi tape either was red or had red in it.

September Bullet Journal Layouts | Major Changes

So, as I mentioned above, there were some significant changes to my usual spread this month. Let’s start from the beginning. The title page changes each month, so this is not all too exciting. This month I went with minimal lines above and below “September.” September is written in a calligraphy cursive, all lowercase letters.

Once I finished the title page, I moved onto my weekly layouts. Notice anything out of the ordinary? That’s right, I forgot my monthly layout! I was so focused on getting some appointments and due dates written down in my weekly spread that I completely passed over my monthly page! Once I realized this mistake, I threw a mini calendar on the title page so that I could see the month as a whole somewhere.

Other Changes I Made

In addition to my accidental changes, I made some changes to my weekly layout. Instead of my signature minimal cursive, I used an all-caps printed font. Like last month, I kept the days of the week in a calligraphy style cursive. Where I would usually do washi tape on the right side only right next to the Sunday column. This time I chose to do washi tape on the left and right sides up to the edge of the pages. Each week has different washi tape. The first week features a lama tape, week two has elephants with balloons, week three’s tape says “all good things are wild & free,” and the final week is red arrows. The final change I made was adding section titles. These are sections I have always used, just never labeled. Since I moved the washi tape, I had extra space to add these labels.

All in all, I am very happy with the changes, both accidental and purposeful, that I made to my spread! I had been struggling with my monthly calendar because I felt like I never really used it. Having left it off on accident forces me to find something else, which actually works better! I also like the placement of the washi tape a lot.
